This page is in memory of James Williams AD5SW |
Even though I had not yet become familiar with hams in my area, James was one of the first people I got to know. The family had a house warming party which I attended. He and his wife Jackie were congenial and I was welcomed immediately. We talked about ham radio and he showed the family shack with its closet full of miscellaneous gear. I expressed to him that I needed a high gain antenna for my FT-60R, but the one I had did not have the correct fitting. He reached into the closet, pulled out the one I needed, handed it to me and said, "Here, I'll swap you for this antenna. Just give me the one you have when I see you again." It was then that I knew I now had an old friend that I had just met." That was James AD5SW. Hal K5NOW

One of the great things about the hobby of ham radio is the really interesting and nice folk you meet. James, AD5SW certainly was one of my favorites. I miss throwing out my call on the repeater and having AD5SW reply. We had some good talks about radio, life and family. James and Jackie have been loyal to any local ham endeavor. I will remember James for his smile, positive attitude, love or our hobby, and dedication to Jackie and Isaac. Mose, KB5BV

James was the ARRL appointed Official Emergency Station. When I became involved, as a coordinator, James was the first to remind me that he would always be available for any necessary response from his station. He and Jackie served the amateur community very well during the times that they participated in drills and logged in during horrific weather conditions. You always knew that James would be monitoring his station to help out when he could. He will be missed by all. Kirk W5KRK |
