Troop Train 2010

Saturday, May 29th, on board the Arkansas Missouri Railroad Memorial Day Troop Train, ARKAN ran a mobile HF station.  The rig was an Icom 718 with a single 20 meter ham stick antenna fastened to the outside end of a restored 1927 passenger car.  An APRS unit was also used, but antenna problems prevented it from operating properly.

The station was set up inside of the tiny conductor's closet and was operated by Scott KD5KZJ and Mark N5OTD.  John N5TEM was on hand to assist.
